What is the Foundation about?
The James Shaull Wagon Train Foundation, Inc. was formed and incorporated in August 2000 in honor of James Shaull. “Jimmy” who farmed with his Belgian horses, participated in the Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington D.C. and Baltimore’s Inner Harbor ceremonies as well as annual wagon trains and parades in the surrounding area. He was Wagon Master for the National Pike Festival in the year 2000. Shortly after the wagon train he passed away at the age of 56 in a tractor accident.
He loved to show the public his horses and the simplicity of life before motorized vehicles. People would glimpse this heritage as he plowed his fields with his four abreast Belgian horse hitch. Sometimes as many as 100 cars would line up by his fields on the Sharpsburg Pike in Boonsboro, Maryland to watch. He is sorely Missed by those who knew of his love of horses and wagons.
